It's too nice to go to work... [10 Jul 2009|12:29pm]
Rats. Nothing ruins a day off like having to go to work.

However, today is Friday and not only that but Departure, everyone's favourite free electronic music night in Mornington Crescent, is on tonight so I expect everyone to come out and party down!

See you there x

Accountancy [09 Jul 2009|01:19pm]
Hello, all you helpful people!

As you may know I have recently finished my AAT exams and am planning to set up in business (part time for now) providing Accountancy Services to the Goths.

My weekend will be spent writing my business plan in preparation for a meeting with the bank on Monday, which will take the place of my lunch break. Running a business from work is clearly not a good long-term strategy; I am hoping that once I get started I can cut my days to four a week.

But back to the main point, which is: How much should I charge? Accountants seem to be all over the page when it comes to their fees. Of course it would depend on what people need done. Could any of you lot who have used accountants in the past give me some ideas on what kind of work you needed, and how much you were charged for it? It would be a big help! You can e-mail me at nocturnia1@yahoo.com.

THANKS!

Sunday 1st November... FAITH & THE MUSE return! [01 Jul 2009|01:31pm]
Mark your calendars! For all those who won't be catching them in Whitby,

Faith and the Muse

will be playing at Dingwalls in London, Camden Lock.

Last time F&tM graced our stages it was just the two of them in a stripped-down acoustic format. This time can't be any more different. They're bringing the full band plus Taiko drummers, Butoh dancers and a string quartet for a full-on extravaganza! No Bull and Gate nonsense, I had to hire Dingwalls just to get a stage big enough for it all!

Support comes once again from the fabulous Razor Blade Kisses and The Eternal Fall (Spain -- exclusive UK appearance).

----

Previous research has indicated that Sundays are not the best nights for gigs -- but this date couldn't really be avoided, as Faith and the Muse are contracted to start their European tour on Saturday night in Whitby, and would you have preferred, say, a Monday? I think not -- and that people are a bit skint due to the recession.

With this in mind I am offering a limited number of Early Bird Tickets for only £10! These will be available until 31 August or until they run out. (Don't worry, I'll let people know if it's getting close.) Available online only via PayPal, and I'll even split the 50p fee with you so each ticket is £10.25 all in.

Note these are ELECTRONIC TICKETS ONLY and WILL NOT BE POSTED OUT.

Facebook event, flyer, etc. coming soon!

Gig day wibbles! [21 Jun 2009|01:33pm]
Right then, off to Camden for some last-last-minute flyering, then onto the Bull & Gate.
I do hope to see many of you tonight!

[20 Jun 2009|03:35pm]
Have briefly entertained the idea of heading down to Camden to do a bit of flyering for tomorrow night's gig. But Camden is a long bus ride away (and back), I'm meant to play Scrabble with my mum this afternoon, the Dev is no longer a fun place to grab a well-earned pint with random mates after flyering, and to top it all off, I'm lazy. I might get a couple extra punters for the gig but it wouldn't be worth the effort. I will, however, do some really last-minute flyering in Camden tomorrow, as it will be conveniently on the way to Kentish Town anyway and I can then stop at Sainsbury's to get the rider items. It's all about convenience.

Anyway, being lazy fills me with guilt that I am not currently Getting Something Done (tm) so I will type up the setlists for the last Dead Letter Office:

DLO Setlist )
[I think there may have been a track or two after this, but I ran away taking the setlist sheet with me!]

And, with thanks to [info]fenbane, my setlist from Departure:

Departure setlist )

Heading out for Invocation tonight, see you there?

Good Mood Today [19 Jun 2009|01:51pm]
In other news, true to form of closing nights, the last regular DLO for a while was a corker. Thanks to everyone who came out! It was a great way to celebrate the end of exams.

I'm actually almost scared by the numbers of people who have so far expressed an interest in my accountancy services. At this rate I'd better not take too long to rest on my laurels, and start getting myself set up with Companies House and the AAT Members-in-Practice scheme! Of course expressing interest is in no way the same as hiring, but still pretty impressive considering I'm not yet for hire.

Life just sometimes takes you in directions you'd never really even considered! Best to just go with it! :)

Screaming Banshee Aircrew gig cancelled [04 Jun 2009|01:08pm]
Passing this along from [info]mister_ed who has now posted it officially: This Sunday's Screaming Banshee Aircrew gig at the Underworld has been cancelled, to be rescheduled in August or so once their album has actually come out.

(Hopefully by me!)

This is one less event I have to flyer, hehe ;)

In other news, why have BOTH Happy Funeral Party AND Specimen and Sexbeat been scheduled for the same weekend as the Amphi festival!?? Life is just cruel!

Dead Letter Office next Thursday [13 May 2009|10:37pm]
Just a reminder, actually a bit of news.

Dead Letter Office will not be taking place as usual at The Orwell next Thursday the 21st. The Orwell has shut. Dead Letter Office has MOVED (at least for this month) to The Mucky Pup, at 39 Queens Head Street in Angel. Three cheers to [info]andyravensable for sorting the alternate space!

So, Thursday 21st May at the Mucky Pup, for [info]kittylyst's All-Covers Birthday Extravaganza. Still open from 7-11pm, and still free entry, and the Mucky Pup does food too. Hope to see you there!
